I have -I mean had . . . an lg chocolate and somebody broke it into pieces. Do you think I could simply just pay for a new one without my parents knowing? I don’t want to sue or anything. Please don’t ask why, either.

First you need to find out if they have insurance on the phone or not. If they do then they will replace if for free. Ofcourse you can buy another phone but you will have to have it activated to the account that your current broken phone is on. And the bad part is that the activation cost money too.
I would just go in to the cell showroom store and tell them your story and I am almost certain that they would do what ever they can to help you out.
Good luck!!!
WHy don’t you want to ask your parents – they’ll probably be cool with your phone being broken when someone else did it. If you still have the pieces, bring it in to your phone company and tell them the situtation and see if they can give you a discount or free phone. What do you have to lose by asking?
Yes, you can buy a new one, however it will cost you full price in store, but you can still mail in the rebate form for some cash back
